Pomegranate Dye

Pomegranate dye stands out for its versatility. Rich in natural tannins, it acts as both a dye and a mild mordant, helping fibres bind colour more effectively. 

Pomegranate plant dye is prized for its subtle, earthy palette. On its own, it typically yields soft yellow or golden tones. When combined with mordants such as iron or alum, the colour shifts dramatically:

• Alum mordant: warm yellow to golden hues
• Iron mordant: olive green to grey tones
• Copper mordant: has a muting effect, can also create golden shades and caramel browns.

Pomegranate dye works best on natural fibres such as cotton, wool, silk, and linen. These materials absorb plant-based dyes more effectively than synthetic fabrics.
